Britain Told To Prepare For Three-Hour Blackouts 'From 4pm To 7pm' This Winter (Update)

Daily Mail: Britons are told to prepare for three-hour blackouts 'from 4pm to 7pm' this winter: National Grid boss warns households to prepare for rolling power-cuts in January and February if UK fails to secure enough gas from Europe under 'worst case' scenario

* National Grid chief executive John Pettigrew said British households could face three-hour rolling blackouts

* The measures may be introduced on cold days in January and February between 4-7pm, Pettigrew said

* It would come in the 'worst case' scenario that Britain fails to secure enough gas and electricity from Europe

* Britons have already begun stocking up on winter items and tools to keep warm, industry heads have claimed

* National Grid meanwhile was accused of 'rank hypocrisy' last week after images emerged of their offices 'lit up like Blackpool Illuminations' after dark

Households across Britain could face three-hour rolling blackouts in January and February if gas stocks run low, the head of the National Grid has claimed.

Chief executive John Pettigrew said the firm may need to introduce rolling power cuts in January and February, specifying the blackouts would occur on 'really, really cold days' during the week should Britain fail to secure enough gas supplies from Europe.

Speaking at the Financial Times's Energy Transition Summit, Pettigrew warned that Britain's gas-fired power stations, which generate a large portion of the nation's power, are facing a considerable scarcity of fuel.

China’s PHL-191 MLRS Shows How Airburst Munitions Could Transform Modern Battlefield Suppression

China has showcased what appears to be an airburst-capable munition fired from its PHL-191 long-range modular multiple launch rocket system during a live-fire exercise, highlighting a growing emphasis on suppressing dispersed battlefield targets rather than relying solely on point strikes. Footage released on July 19, 2026, by China Military Online and the Chinese Ministry of National Defense suggests the PLA is expanding its long-range fire-support options with effects designed to disrupt troops, air-defense sites, and lightly protected equipment across a wider area, reinforcing its ability to shape the battlefield before major combat operations begin.  Read Full Defense News At This Link.
