Taiwan to launch next year upgrade program of its Chien Lung-class submarines

Turkey has successfully conducted test-fire of local-made ATMACA anti-ship cruise missile

Textron Systems awarded task order for Ground Based Strategic Deterrent missile system

Textron Systems announced on Sept. 29 it has been awarded a contract to support work on the Ground-Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) missile system. This scope of work is part of a larger award by the U.S. Air Force to prime contractor Northrop Grumman. Russian marines to get BMP-3F infantry fighting vehicles

Russian ministry of Defense has planned to arm Russian marines with BMP-3F infantry fighting vehicles for coastal and landing operations, including firing from water. Experts believe the new vehicles will increase the firepower of marines several fold. They will be able to engage in local conflicts and in clashes with modern armies. Russian Navy postpones upgrade of third-generation nuclear submarines

Several years ago, the media published plans of the Russian Navy to upgrade Antey-class SSGN of project 949A. They had to become able to fire Kalibr missiles. Open sources said each submarine would have 72 missiles. However, there are fears that the program has been suspended. Only two SSGN — the K-132 Irkutsk and the K-442 Chelyabinsk are being upgraded. The situation with submarines of other projects is even worse. No multirole third-generation nuclear submarine has undergone medium overhaul and upgrade. Read full news at this link... European Defence Agency workshop with industry on Artificial Intelligence

Last week, EDA hosted a virtual workshop on ‘Artificial Intelligence (AI) for defence’ which brought together over 230 industrial and experts from 20 Member States who shared insight on the impact and potential of AI for defence. Netherlands and Estonia to acquire seven Milrem Robotics THeMIS UGVs

The Estonian Centre for Defence Investment (ECDI) signed a Joint Procurement Agreement with the Dutch authorities to procure a total of seven THeMIS unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) from Milrem Robotics, the leading developer of robotics and autonomous systems in Europe. Milrem Robotics will deliver four THeMIS vehicles acquired by the Royal Netherlands Army in the coming months. The Estonian Defence Forces (EDF) will receive their three vehicles this month. The Kolpino submarine of the Black Sea fleet fired a Kalibr missile at a coastal target during Caucasus-2020 strategic command-staff exercise, the Russian Defense Ministry said. “The Kolpino launched a missile from a submerged position. It flew by a sophisticated trajectory close to a hundred nautical miles and hit the coastal target,” it said.
