US Sets A New Record For A Daily Covid-19 Cases

Daily Mail: US sets WORLD record 489,267 COVID cases in 24 hours as country risks grinding to a HALT: 'Incoming viral blizzard will make it hard to keep everyday life operating'

* The U.S. recorded 489,267 new cases on Thursday, the most of any country in the world during the pandemic so far

* On average, America is recording 300,000 new cases per day, a record for the pandemic as the nation suffers another winter surge

* Dr Michael Osterholm, a former advisor to President Biden's transition team, said he expects a 'viral blizzard' to exacerbate the situation in the coming weeks

* The Omicron COVID-19 variant is fueling the surge, and accounts for between 40% to 70% of new COVID-19 cases, according to CDC data

* The CDC recently dropped the required quarantine time for a positive Covid case down to five days, from ten, in an effort to keep society running amid the surge

The United States has hit a record of nearly 500,000 daily coronavirus cases - the most any country has ever reported - and risks grinding to a halt as experts say that the latest surge of infections will only get worse in the next month.

On Wednesday, 489,267 positive Covid cases were reported.

According to data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), anywhere from 40 to 70 percent of new cases in America are of the Omicron variant, which was first discovered last month by South African health officials.

The U.S. is now averaging 300,387 new Covid cases per day, a pandemic record and the first time the 300,000 mark has been reached in America.
