Israel Signs Deal For US Heavy Choppers And Refueling Planes

The deal is part of an upgrade of Israel's air force capabilities and includes an option to buy six additional choppers

Times of Israel: With Iran in mind, Israel signs deal with US for heavy choppers, refueling planes 

Weapons sale to cost $3.1 billion, with the funds coming from military aid Washington provides to Jerusalem Israel on Thursday signed a long-awaited agreement to purchase a dozen heavy transport helicopters and two additional refueling planes from the United States, in a weapons deal worth over $3 billion, the Defense Ministry said. 

These aircraft, along with a number of additional F-35 fighter jets that Israel plans to purchase from the US, are specifically meant to counter threats posed by Iran, including its nuclear program.
