US approves $5 billion Foreign Military Sale to Saudi Arabia for 10,000 JDAM-ER bomb kits

On September 4, 2026, the U.S. State Department approved a $5.0 billion Foreign Military Sale to Saudi Arabia for 10,004 JDAM-ER guidance kits and matching bomb bodies, along with a concurrent $750 million sale for 60 AGT-1500 tank engines. The arms package substantially increases Saudi Arabia's standoff strike capacity by deploying wing-kit technology that extends baseline unpowered bomb reach out to more than 74 kilometers.
