Greece is expected to sign agreements with Israel worth about €3 billion ($3.5 billion) for a new multi-layer air and missile defense architecture built around Israeli systems including David’s Sling, BARAK MX and SPYDER, according to two security sources cited by Reuters on August 31, 2026. The planned network would significantly strengthen Greece’s ability to counter drones, cruise missiles and ballistic missiles while reinforcing NATO’s southeastern flank and protecting allied bases, airspace and critical infrastructure across the Eastern Mediterranean.
