Chairman Of The Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley Says Russia Is Threatening The “Global International Security Order”

 

 CNN: Exclusive: Top US general tells CNN ‘global international security order’ is at stake following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine 

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley told CNN’s Jim Sciutto on Tuesday that the entire “global international security order” put in place after World War II is at stake if Russia gets away “cost-free” following its invasion of Ukraine. 

The top US general spoke exclusively to CNN at the conclusion of a meeting hosted by Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin with allied countries at Ramstein Air Base in Germany. Austin gathered the countries to discuss the current situation in Ukraine. 

“If this is left to stand, if there is no answer to this aggression, if Russia gets away with this cost-free, then so goes the so-called international order, and if that happens, then we’re entering into an era of seriously increased instability,” Milley said.

WNU Editor: The world is changing, and those who run it are not happy. The Ukraine war is one of many conflicts that are going to threaten Gen. Mark Milley's "global international security order" in the coming months/years, and my gut tells me that US resistance to prevent this new global realignment is going to fail. And I am not the only one who is thinking like this. Some of America's closest allies are now hedging their bets.... Mark Milley spoke with his Russian counterpart on Thursday, the first such conversation between the two since the Kremlin’s invasion of Ukraine began in late February, according to the Pentagon.  Milley spoke by phone with Valery Gerasimov, chief of the Russian general staff, and they “discussed several security-related issues of concern and agreed to keep the lines of communication open,” Joint Staff spokesperson Col.
