President Biden Gives An Update On The Covid-19 Pandemic

Daily Mail: 'Come on': Biden dodges questions on COVID and smirks about a press conference 'soon' after rambling speech where he bungled his testing czar's name and announced plan for one billion tests

* President Joe Biden discussed the state of the pandemic for about 10 minutes

* After the speech he told a reporter asking about advice for vaccinated Americans going about their daily lives that he would 'talk about that later'

* The president promised that the White House is 'on track to roll out a website next week where you can order free tests shipped to your home'

* Biden also said he'd unveil a plan to get free face masks to American homes

* Coronavirus cases in the states that saw Omicron peak first are leveling off

* The administration has now announced plans to send 1 billion tests to Americans

* It first made the announcement before Christmas amid the omicron surge

* Vice President Kamala Harris told NBC the first tests were going out 'shortly'

President Joe Biden announced on Thursday the federal government would be doubling the amount of at-home COVID-19 test kits sent to American homes to a total number of one billion.

He also revealed the White House is unveiling a plan next week to get free and low-cost masks to people as the highly transmissible but less severe Omicron variant rips through the country.

'Now, I don't like to, uh, uh, you know, ugh, outline the next steps we're taking against, uh, I'd, I'd like to outline the next steps we're taking against ova — uh, the omicron variant,' Biden said at the outset of his speech.

WNU Editor: He looked dazed throughout his rambling speech. And how he ignored reporters asking him questions on Covid illustrates perfectly why he has low polling numbers and why a majority of Americans now disapprove of his administration's handling of the pandemic .... Only 31 percent of Americans trust Fauci's COVID advice and just 45 percent approve of Biden's pandemic response, another dire poll for the administration shows (Daily Mail).

Update: Democrats have cause .... Dems frustrated with Biden’s Omicron response (Axios).
