Covid Models Say U.S. Facing A Wave Of Covid Deaths In The Coming Weeks

Daily Mail: At least 60,000 MORE Americans could die of COVID by the time Omicron variant surge eases by mid-March, new White House model suggests, despite Ex-FDA chief Scott Gottlieb saying the pandemic 'is over'

* A model unveiled by the White House on Tuesday estimates that between 60,000 and 300,000 Americans will die of Covid by mid-March

* If the most grim predictions are met, the U.S. will eclipse one million overall Covid deaths in the coming months

* The projection comes despite data that the Omicron variant, which makes up more than 99% of cases, is 91% less lethal than Delta

* Experts fear the massive growth in cases will cause deaths to increase even though the risk of the new variant is fairly low

While it is starting to appear that the Omicron COVID-19 wave could be nearing its end, one model projects a grim future ahead for the United States, modeling that 58,000 to 305,000 more Americans will succumb to the virus over the next two months.

Projections shared during a White House briefing Tuesday estimate that between up to 305,000 Americans could die from Covid between now and when the wave is expected to subside by mid-March.
