U.S. Air Force Seeks F-16 Fighter Jet Computing Upgrade to Sustain Combat Role Alongside F-35 and F-22

The U.S. Air Force is seeking a new mission computer to help its F-16 Fighting Falcons remain effective alongside F-35 Lightning IIs and F-22 Raptors as air combat becomes increasingly dependent on sensor data, electronic warfare, and networked operations. The Next-Generation Mission Compute (NGMC) program would replace aging onboard computing equipment in selected F-16 variants, supporting their continued contribution to American airpower into the 2040s.
