China Simulates Coastal Invasion Using ZTD-05 Amphibious Tanks In Live Fire Exercise

 On August 8, 2025, China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) reported that it had reaffirmed its focus on strengthening amphibious warfare capabilities through a recent live-fire exercise. Conducted on July 13 by an armored detachment within a PLA Army brigade, the drills featured an amphibious assault vehicle engaging designated sea targets while maintaining high-speed movement across the water. The event showcased coordinated tactics combining precision gunnery with the support of an amphibious assault ship, which deployed smoke grenades while advancing toward its objective before opening fire to cover the maneuver.
