* Many top Biden administration officials had gone on vacation on the weekend Kabul was captured by the Taliban 

* The Blinken family has long had a presence in the East Hampton, with Blinken's father, Donald, and uncle Robert owning side-by-side homes there 

* It is not clear if Blinken was staying with family in the Hamptons 

* With Kabul's sudden collapse, officials rushed to evacuate Americans and their Afghan allies 

* Rughly 300 Americans remain trapped in the country, Blinken reported Sunday 

Secretary of State Antony Blinken was reportedly vacationing in the Hamptons just hours before Kabul fell to the Taliban, despite warnings that the city was at risk. Blinken was one of several top-level Biden administration officials to have gone on vacation the Friday before the Afghan capitol was taken by the group on August 15. 

President Joe Biden himself was also on a trip away, and had arrived at the presidential retreat at Camp David that day.
