Daily Mail: Two US B-1B strategic bombers are buzzed by Russian Su-27 fighter jet over the Baltic sea in latest aerial flashpoint for two superpowers 

* This interception is the latest in a series of aerial standoffs between Russian and NATO aircrafts since the 2022 invasion of Ukraine 

Russia's defense ministry scrambled an Su-27 fighter jet to intercept two US B-1B strategic bombers over the Baltic Sea on Tuesday afternoon in an aerial standoff as tensions continue to mount between the two nations in the wake of Putin's invasion of Ukraine in 2022. 

The report from the Russian state-run news agency RIA cited a government source in the defense ministry. That source said that the American warplanes 'performed a U-turn' after the Su-27 jet arrived at the scene.
