SCMP: Putin meets China’s defence minister Li Shangfu in Moscow, hails military cooperation 

* ‘Development of relations between our two nations is going well in all areas,’ Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the Kremlin on Sunday 

* Chinese President Xi Jinping met Putin in Moscow last month. Russia and China have moved to further strengthen ties since Moscow’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine 

Russian President Vladimir Putin met China’s Defence Minister Li Shangfu in Moscow on Sunday and both men hailed military cooperation between the two nations, which have declared a “no limits” partnership. Chinese President Xi Jinping traveled to Moscow last month for meetings with Putin. 

Russia and China have moved to further strengthen their economic, political and military ties since Moscow sent tens of thousands of troops into Ukraine in February last year. 

Footage of the meeting posted by the Kremlin showed Putin shaking hands with Li and then sitting down at a table. Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu was also present.

Four Eastern European Countries Expel Russian Diplomats

Copyright RAIGO PAJULA / AFP, FILE   RFE: Bulgaria Expels 10 Russian Diplomats, Baltics Follow Suit With Another 10 Expulsions   Bulgaria is expelling 10 Russian diplomats saying they were carrying out activities deemed incompatible with their diplomatic status, a move followed up quickly by the Baltic nations of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.  The Bulgarian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on March 18 that it had given the 10 diplomats 72 hours to leave. The statement did not give a more detailed reason for the expulsions, but since Russia launched its unprovoked invasion of Ukraine, the Russian ambassador in Sofia has repeatedly made contradictory statements about Bulgaria's position on the conflict.
