Will The Biden Administration Tax Drivers By The Mile To Fund Their $3 Trillion Green Infrastructure Plan?

The nation has traditionally paid for road improvements with its gas tax, but Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said that may no longer be enough as more and more people use electric cars

Furious voters have slammed the Biden administration for considering taxing motorists by the mile to fund their $3 trillion climate-friendly infrastructure plans, claiming it hurts rural Americans but not 'millionaires' and their Teslas. 

The White House is mulling a tax on vehicles' mileage to pay for a proposal to revamp the nation's infrastructure expected in the coming days, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said on Friday. 

Critics chimed in that that the tax idea from 'Pothole Pete' would considerably hurt people who own electric vehicles or who live in rural areas where distances there are more miles between destinations.

WNU Editor: This idea of taxing cars by the mile has been circulating around for the past few years. With electric cars being the trend, revenue from gas taxes will decrease  .... a fact that governments are too well aware of that.

But is the public prepared for such a new tax? 

I doubt it. 

And I doubt that Congress has the courage to test that public support.
