First Franco-Estonian training sessions of Task Force Takuba have started in Operation Barkhane

At the beginning of August, the last Estonian operators and most of their equipment arrived on the theater. The joint work and the first training of the French and Estonian special forces of Task force Takuba could therefore begin. Warrant Officer Christophe, FS group leader within Takuba, looks back on the first joint exercises currently taking place in Gao.

Bath Iron Works starts building new Arleigh Burke-class Flight III destroyer USS J. William Middendorf

General Dynamics Bath Iron Works has started construction of the future USS J. William Middendorf (DDG 138), a Flight III Arleigh Burke-class destroyer that will strengthen the U.S. Navy’s missile-defense and escort capacity during sustained operations in the Red Sea, Eastern Mediterranean, and Indo-Pacific.
